National Peace Marathon

C.R.P.Y.A & PAN SL SET TO STAGE THE FIRST-EVER NATIONAL PEACE MARATHON ON SATURDAY

The Center for Research Youth and Peace Affairs (C.R.P.Y.A) in collaboration with the Patriotic Advocacy Network, Sierra Leone (PAN SL) is set to stage the first-ever National Peace Marathon on the theme: of “Run for Peace”. 

The marathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 1st October 2022, from Bus Halt, Brookfields - to - Kallon Car Park, at Aberdeen Beach, Freetown exactly at 7:00 am.

Prezzo Abdul Kpaka, the Executive Director of C.R.P.Y.A said that the rationale behind the National Peace Marathon is to create an innovative way of bringing young people, citizens, stakeholders of Sierra Leone, and the international community together for a peace-oriented event and to reach out to many people as possible-including schools, universities, communities, youth-led organizations, and political parties with peace and nation-building messages.

 The Chief Patriot and Leader of PAN SL, Ansumana Keita further deliberated on the key objectives of the marathon which are:

🔰changing negative attitudes of Sierra Leoneans into positive ones;

🔰highlighting the significance of International Peace Day and the need for all citizens to observe it;

🔰bringing young people together to work toward a common goal, pleading with organizations committed to promoting peace to take appropriate action; and 

🔰 building peace and appealing to the government of Sierra Leone and other human security institutions to do always the needful in ensuring peace and positive peace.

“Peace is priceless, without peace, our nation will trek from progress and development” The Chief Patriot Keita concluded. 

The organizers are calling on the general public to grace the Marathon as it is a unique way of passing on the gospel of PEACE in Mama Salone

In a Public Notice released by the Sierra Gazette, through the Bank of Sierra Leone, the Redenominated Currency will come into effect on July 1st, 2022 and the existing currency shall cease to be in effect on October 1st, 2022 The new Leones and the current one will both be legal tenders from 1st July to 1st October 2022, when the current tender will cease to be legal.
