Profile: Whos Is Ansumana Keita?

 “I WORK WITH PASSION NOT FOR MONEY” The Chief Patriot

Ansumana Keita, Chief Patriot, Patriotic Advocacy Network-Sierra Leone.

Ansumana Keita, known as the Chief Patriot and Commander-in-Chief of the Patriot Army, was born on the 8th of January, 1995 at Gbenseh Chiefdom, Koidu City, Kono District, Sierra Leone. 

He is a young Sierra Leonean Leader, Communicator and PR Consultant, Public Speaker, Script Writer, Producer and Master of Ceremony (MC). Within his community, Ansumana Keita also serves as a Religious Leader and one of the Imams at Masjid Sobireen, Malta Lane. Thus, he happens to be one of the youngest religious leaders within the Kossoh Town community. 

Ansumana Keita is a passionate change advocate, who leads the Patriotic Advocacy Network-Sierra Leone, (PAN SL) one of the biggest advocacy organizations in Sierra Leone with over 1,000 members with branches in Freetown, Kenema, Bo, Makeni, Kono, Kabala, Mongor and Panguma and with school chapters in almost all major schools in the country. 

“I was 17 when we founded PAN SL, it’s extremely challenging because so many people doubted our strengths and we had no finance to pioneer our registration and activities. So we used our voices and the monies given to us by our parents for lunch” Ansumana Keita disclosed.

Ansumana Keita preaches and instils in Sierra Leoneans, especially young people the spirit of loving Sierra Leone and putting her interest above all else. He mentors and counsels youths in various communities on Self-Identification and Image Leadership.  Thus, he has been using Creative Arts, Music, Poetry, Spoken Words, Storytelling, Debate and Public Speaking and Talent Exhibition as a vehicle to pioneer his message.

The Chief Patriot, has initiated and pioneered several campaigns and activities such as “Lef we Kontri Ebola Campaign”, “United We Stand, Beat COVID-19”, “Patriotic Peace March in 2018”, “The Public Speaking for Girls” “The National Storytelling Festival” “The Brain of Serra Lyoa” “Building Generational Leaders’ Summit” to name but few.

These activities accordingly to Keita, are mainly geared towards commanding growths and creating positive impacts in hearts and souls of young people in Sierra Leone.

Adding to being the Executive Director of PAN-SL, Ansumana Keita is the current Vice President of Law Society, Fourah Bay College, and National Coordinator for Psychology of Winning. 

He is the former President of the Albert Academy Alumni Association, FBC and former Chairman for the Constitutional Review Committee for the Mass Communication Students Association-FBC (MACOSA).

He has wealth of experience when it comes to leadership; and has attained a lot of leadership positions over the years. Notably, he was the President of the Anti-Violence Movement and a School Prefect of the Albert Academy Senior Secondary school in 2010-2012. He was the President for the Muslim Youth Development Organization (MYDO) in 2015/2016. From 2015- 2021, He volunteered with the West Africa Youth Network (WAYN) and served as the first Accountability Planning Monitoring Evaluation officer; he also was the Lead Facilitator for the Education Project by WAYN, Civil Peace Service with support from AGIAMONDO on the theme: “Combating Corruption, Marginalization and Injustice in Schools”.

As a Communication and PR Expert, he has worked with several institutions and organizations in order to design their communications strategies and PR Plan. As a media personnel, he is serving as the Producer for The weekly Storytelling Hour Radio Tok Show on AfriRadio 105.3fm. 

KEITA is currently leading the Hospital to Hospital monthly visitation project by MYDO. The Hospital visitation is drive to visit the various hospitals in the Country, offer prayers for the sick, spread words of hope and encouragement and make donations to them.

Born in Gbenseh Chiefdom, Kono district, Keita was taken to the Eastern Part of Freetown, where he grew. They later seek asylum in neighboring Guinea when  the Civil War broke out in Sierra Leone. 

“I grew up with my lovely mother, a single parent. And growing up as a boy, I saw how my mother sacrificed her entire life just to see me get fed and educated. During the civil war, she was more than willing to give up her beautiful soul just for my survival. My mom is my inspiration. She taught me ethics, morals, respect, love for humanity and above all the fear of the Almighty God. Ansumana Keita 

Keita started his primary education in Guinea at The Call of Hope primary school where he attained classes 1-3. Then later returned to Freetown and continued his education from classes 1-6, at the St Philips primary school. He proceeded to the Albert Academy Secondary School where he attained his high school education. During this time, he was enrolled for his  Islamic Education at the Sheik Islam Ibn Taymeyaa, where he attained his Islamic education. 

He holds a Diploma and Hons Degree in Mass Communication and currently pursuing Law at FBC.

“Things were extremely difficult for us at that moment, more so when I lost my father at a tender age. My mom, all alone, purring all her energy on me, I had no option than to have hunger for success. Then, I saw education as the only opportunity that will salvage our appalling situation” Ansumana Keita 

He is  a profound Public Speaker and Influencer who has written several articles, plays, songs, and attended several Conferences, trainings and Workshops. He has hosted over 300 Events within the past five years.

I like to Pray, helping others, reading books, listening news, playing and watching football, of course I’m a staunch supporter of Manchester United” 

Ansumana Keita is a  humble personality with determination and vision to make Sierra Leone and Africa a Better place. His goal is to raise awareness to young in order for them to be Patriotic and take on responsibility for their country.

In a Public Notice released by the Sierra Gazette, through the Bank of Sierra Leone, the Redenominated Currency will come into effect on July 1st, 2022 and the existing currency shall cease to be in effect on October 1st, 2022 The new Leones and the current one will both be legal tenders from 1st July to 1st October 2022, when the current tender will cease to be legal.
