Nyakeh's Column

How Polirized is our Country's Politics?  How Far Has Our Politicians Taken Us For Granted?  Is or Are There Hopes For Clean and Developmental Politics To Thrive in Our County? Answers To This Questions have been well etched in the Article Below. Don't forget to Share and Leave Your Comment. Have a Good Sunday Read!! 😊          Politics in my Country. By; Mohamed Dauda Kamara Let's not play politics inattentively, fumbling at the irrevocable decisions we have made, setting bad governance ablaze in an honorary ambience because we will always be the products of what we will choose to plant during elections. Politics in my country comes with a gripping effect, more innocence and agile. Uproarious and bleeding, senseless and irreparable. The upheaval is way too adamant, scorning us over and over again, without much resignation. Touring with our features, smuggling our development with opened arms, and there is still nothing we have done about it. T...

FBC Students Struggle To Access Examination Halls

STUDENTS SPEND OVER 50,000 LEONES A DAY ON TRANSPORT FARE. By: Musa Kamara   The rapid increment of fuel prices in Sierra Leone has been spiraling out of control in the last few years, fuelling rising poverty and leaving students of Fourah Bay College wondering how much more they can spend in order to access their daily lecture rooms.   On Thursday 17th March, 2022, the people of Sierra Leone abruptly woke up to a huge increase in fuel prices from le, 12,000 to le, 15,000 per liter sparking massive increase in transportation fare around the country. Fourah Bay College, a green scenery campus with historical buildings housing thousands of students from all over the country and the sub region of West Africa, situated at the top of Mountain Aureol, laced with scores of departments in various fields of work of life and manned by top notch qualified lecturers is miles away from its students coming from the East and West part of the city, Freetown. It is even farther for ...

Emotional Control

EMOTIONS . Mohammed Dauda Kamara, Student Mass Communication Department, FBC and a Writer.   By: Mohamed Dauda Kamara  The last time I finally realized how to be emotionally intelligent was when I hit my younger sister with a stick on the forehead because I was furious with her disrespects. I became tumultuous as though I'd killed my own sister. Yes, I heard my mother screamed in tears. And realizing my mindless brutality, maybe my senseless violence, I ran off as if being chased by a leopard. I ran off, throwing away the stick I'd hit my sister with, as though it was already a terrible sin contaminating my hand. A certain amount of remorse got hold of me as I sprinted while I could hear Mama's shrill voice screaming in tears. "What have you done?" My instinct asked me as if he wasn't silent when the dark side of my mind told me to react with anger, with terror, with vigor and with somewhat affront. I purged with excessive regret....

Siku's Diary

HELLO!!                    WELCOME TO SIKU'S DIARY Childhood Mindset VS Adult Mindset.    Siku Jalloh, Student and Poet, Mass Communication Department, FBC.   BY: SIKU JALLOH.  Truth be told, we, all humans including you and I are on a journey to success and greatness - or at least, we think we are on a journey to success. We all "dream" of doing "something big" or becoming "somebody noble" in society. If you ask the kid in you, you would hear him dangle a string of great greatness-granting goals.  Sure! he beseeches, with all joy and merry, you become either a lawyer, medical doctor, soldier, president, footballer, journalist, "bank manager" and many more. Did you hear him whisper the desire to be a teacher? Well.... I guess he did - though reluctantly! But should I ask, have you ever felt like you have lost your purpose and dream? Do you ever feel like you are trekking on the wrong road headed to the wro...

Mushrooming of Private Schools

=OPINION EDITORIAL= (Op-Ed)  Mushrooming of Private Schools Undermining FQE    By: Musa Kamara (Mr. Mark):  The rapid growth of Private owned Schools in Freetown has been seen by many as one that is at the expense of the quality education this government and the people of Sierra Leone are striving for. In 2018, the Bio-led administration instituted Free and Quality Education for Primary and Secondary Schools in the country. This delivered promise received a widespread commendation from members of the public, both home and abroad. And it eventually attracted a lot of donor partners who financially support the Free and Quality Education in the country.  As pronounced by the president, Free and Quality education is for all government and government-assisted schools. But the growth of private schools in the county is seen by many as a factor that undermines the aims of the FQE. There are good private schools indeed, but among them again, some are simply mo...

My Passion (Journalism)

Musa Alimamy Kamara   I am a Diploma (With Distinction) holder in Mass Communications from the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College. I have a burning passion for writing, especially writing articles that have to do with politics,  economy, culture and governance issues. I am currently pursuing Bachelors in Arts (Mass Communication Year 2) at FBC. I choose to be critical in most of my writings and on most occasions on the criticizing end. That doesn't mean I don't recognize a good initiative when I see one, but journalism is all about exposing what is hidden. And most times, our public officials tend to hide the real stories from the public. And it is the job of the journalist to ensure the people are aware of what is exactly going on. "Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed." But we have chosen to be journalists, so we must print that which someone else does not want printed.   This is my official blog website where I will be regular...
